Removing the fuel pump
The lower part of the rear bench needs removing, simply pull up from the front edge where the clips are on the driver's and passenger's side and the seat will come out.

You will now be able to see this plate on the passenger side, remove the three 10mm nuts and then push the rubber grommet through so the plate can be moved fully out the way.

Unclip the electrical plug and slide the locking clip from the fuel lines.

The fuel line clips slide opposite ways and completely come away.

Next are the 8 x 8mm bolts, completely remove and put to one side.

Remove the fuel lines by lifting them upwards (they are handed but are moulded so will stay the right way round). Once the lines are moved over the black cover plate can be taken out the way.

The fuel pump housing will now lift out from the tank but not completely due to a hose being connected.

Slide the clamp down the hose using a pair of pliers.

The hose will now come off and the housing can now come out of the tank completely but be careful as the fuel level float sticks out from the housing and could be damaged on the edge of the tank if not mindful.

Replacing the fuel pump
Next is the fuel filter housing (fuel pump is located inside) needs unclipping, there are four of them the same as circled in the picture.

Once unclicked feed the black moulded tube through the access hole which will now reveal the wiring for the pump.

Press the tab in on the pump plug to release it.

Unclip the 4 clips at the bottom of the filter, the plastic cap keeps the pump in place. Be careful as one of the clips is tucked away and a little hidden.

You'll now see the bottom of the pump.

Using a little force push down on the pump which will release it.

Remove the plastic collar from the old pump and fit along the new seal cap to the new pump as per picture.

Apply a small amount of Wd40 to the seal cap and push the new fuel pump into the filter and refit the pump rubber cushion then the plastic bracket (it will take a little force to click in to place).

Fuel pump wiring
The new fuel pump will require a new plug to be wired on. It's very simply a power and earth. Earth being the black cables that run from the plug, to the pump but also to the earth points on the housing top.

Cut the old plug off, tin the cables, solder and heat shrink using Dr25 shrink which is a shrink that is safe to use with fuel. At this point its worth making sure it is completed to a high standard, please do not get tempted to use cheap heat shrink or electrical tape.

Once finished and completely heatshrunk I find it easier (and safer) to have the wires seperated by the centre pole on the housing top.

Next feed the pump plug through the hole and connect it to the new pump.

For reference you can see the cables still run either side in the housing for an extra level of protection.

Refit a new housing seal ring before reversing the fuel pump removal steps. Yes even I forget sometimes and have to lift the pump housing back out of the tank.

Once the install is complete prime the fuel system by turning the ignition on and off two to three times before trying to start the car.
Other Jzs chassis' are very similar process and this guide will help you if unsure however Jzx90 and 100's are different as the tank is in the boot but a guide will be created in the future for those chassis'.
Hopefully these guides help you take on the jobs at home, any questions please just get in touch.
